Position Description
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
  • The lead clinician at Youth Links will have expertise in the treatment of children and youth with significant mental health, substance abuse, and behavioral problems. He or she will have experience in a milieu therapy or democratic therapeutic community model; including a mastery of the principles of Sanctuary, and will be able to model for and train staff in the implementation of trauma informed care principles. The lead clinician will have a strong ability to function with multiple tasks including critical situations while remaining a calming influence for clients and staff alike. The Lead Clinician will monitor the treatment environment or milieu, and with the program director, provide support, stress relief, creativity, and humor to offset secondary stress. The Lead Clinician will have a high level of patience and respect for youth, their families, and staff in all program components and roles.
  • PREFERRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Masters Degree in Social Work/Counseling
  • LMHP required.
  • Seven years experience with 5-years post licensure
  • Supervision experience
  • Valid drivers license, acceptable driving record
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Provides supervision to program staff, which includes programming oversight, quality assurance, program development and training.
  • Provides treatment team structure and leadership involving all levels and disciplines of staff as well as youth, families and referral sources.
  • Works closely with Youth Links Program Director to insure that programming is consistent across all shifts and all program components (residential, partial, care coordination, evaluation); Partners with Program Director in a flexible way to maintain consistent program leadership on site.
  • Trains staff in behavioral, motivational, and educational interventions to positively influence youth skills and behavior.
  • Forms relationships with supervisees and co-workers that are supportive and respectful while maintaining necessary professional boundaries.
  • Provides skilled clinical intervention with youth and families in individual, group, and family sessions.
  • Develops and implements effective educational and therapeutic practices into the programming schedule.
  • Establishes and monitors client clinical record with initial screening or assessment as needed, service or treatment plan, client progress and termination summary.
  • Implements interventions informed by an understanding of how trauma is manifested in the juvenile justice population.
  • Acts as consultant for the Agency with other community and professional groups in improving the quality of life for families in the community.
  • Displays a courteous and caring attitude at all times to the clientele, volunteers, and visitors of the Agency.
  • Cooperates and collaborates with program area staff, volunteers, and other Agency staff.
  • Is dependable and punctual regarding scheduling and attendance.
  • Abides by all specific program and Agency procedures, policies, and requirements.
  • Develops personal and program related skills through participation in internal and external training opportunities including printed material and audio and/or visual media.
  • Performs other program related duties as assigned.
