Position Description

Job Purpose:
To coordinate the implementation of the Post adoption/guardianship program in Nebraska and

Essential Job Duties:

Program Development:
• Develop and implement Post Adoption/Guardianship project following the grant proposal.
• Development of specific programs and their procedures, forms, etc.
• Oversee the development and maintenance of the website.
• Oversee the development and maintenance of the database.
• Monitor the overall Post Adoption/Guardianship budget including collaboration with CFO to ensure financial information is accurately reported.

Program Coordination:
• Achieve successful implementation of the program as evidenced by adequate referrals, outcome achievement and positive feedback from referral sources and clientele.
• Monitor program activities to quickly identify strengths and areas in need of improvement.
• Provide program information to supervisors and State on regular basis including written reports.
• Adhere to grant reporting guidelines including monthly reports, quarterly reports, and conference calls with the Department’s grant management specialists as necessary.

Service Delivery:
• Utilize assessment tools to focus services toward more effective approaches for adoptive families.
• Oversee provision of services to eligible families.
• Collaborate with other community professionals working with adoptive families.
• Integrate cultural considerations into service delivery.

        
Supervision:
• Provide supervision of statewide staff including hiring, training, performance evaluation and termination.
• Informing the State of any personnel changes and obtaining any needed approval.

Program Documentation and Outcome:
• Maintain timely, legible records of services provided per established program and Agency standards.
• Timely completion of any provider enrollment forms and reports needed for third party or other outside entities. 
• Participate in PA/G program evaluation and Continuous Quality Improvement activities as assigned.

Community Education and Marketing:
• Supervise and participate in the promotion of the PA/G program and its services.
• Market program through identification of key contacts and development of positive working relationships with key persons/organizations.
• In cooperation with Development and Public Relations staff, prepare program promotional materials and the website.
• Oversee the promotion of the PA/G program and its services, including exploring opportunities for on-going funding.

Professionalism and Confidentiality:
• Keep all client names and information and other agency business confidential.
• Guard client confidentiality in waiting areas, during phone contact, and in handling of records.
• Insure all office and record security procedures are followed.

Interpersonal Relationships:
• Maintain a positive, respectful demeanor on all contacts with staff and the public.
• Seek needed guidance in handling difficult client situations and establishing priorities for the job.
• Work to build positive, productive relationships with other staff.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Minimum experience and education:
• Master’s degree in social work is preferred.
• Licensed to practice mental health in Nebraska.
• Four years of management experience in a human service agency.
• Minimum of two years in child welfare and experience in adoption preferred.
• Knowledge of adoption services, family systems and family therapy, and children’s mental health issues (including attachment, bonding, and grief and loss).
• Demonstrated ability to provide quality clinical supervision and program direction.
• Ability to manage budget, property and other resources.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Maintain Nebraska licensure and continuing education requirements to provide counseling.
• Knowledge of program development and building relationships in the service community.
• Personal convictions compatible with the philosophy and goals of the position.
• Demonstrated understanding of and ability to work with persons of diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Valid Nebraska driver’s license, proof of liability insurance and ability to drive for Agency business.
