Job Summary:
Assists the full-time Charge Nurse in the coordination of resident care for designated unit, throughout all shifts, and supervises staff in accordance with Village policies. Assists in maintaining compliance with Federal and State regulations.
Essential Functions:
Work to lead a positive, cohesive unit team, providing motivation for the best quality of care possible while demonstrating respect and a positive attitude towards employees, residents and family members.
Support the full-time charge nurse in completion of assignments and enforcement of unit procedures.
Make daily rounds to assess residents as needed.
Designate work assignments and give daily report to unit personnel.
Supervise CNA’s for completeness and quality of work and compliance with facility policy. Address problem areas with appropriate corrective action.
Complete MDS, RAPS and care plans in accurate and timely manner.
Make rounds with physicians: prepared to discuss labs, x-ray results, and current problems, check orders and transfer orders to MAR’s.
Ensure physician orders and treatment plans are complete and carried out.
Maintain proper documentation and complete required paperwork per nursing policy. Train other personnel on correct procedures for completion.
Perform necessary audits as requested.
Maintain appropriate contact with families utilizing positive customer relations.
Coordinate efforts with other departments, including: Social Services, Activities, Pharmacy, Maintenance, Housekeeping and Dietary.
Understand and complete HCFA672 and HCFA802.
Maintain good attendance record and proper use of breaks.
Comply with nursing department and facility policies and procedures.
Non-Essential Functions:
Ensure adequate inventory of supplies for unit.
Keep up-to-date MAR’s, memo manual, and policy manual.
Location assessments as indicated.
Notify nursing management regarding significant changes in resident conditions or other pertinent information.
May assist with maintaining IV therapy on skilled floors.
Monitor wts/vs and I’s and O’s for timely completion.
Ensure personal property list is current.
Administer medications and/or treatments as necessary.
Attend Charge Nurse meetings.
Other duties as assigned by nursing management.
Minimum Qualifications:
Currently licensed RN in the State of Tennessee.
1-2 years nursing experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 year nursing experience.
Previous experience in long-term care setting
Previous charge and/or supervisory experience.
Previous MDS experience
