Community Development Coordinator

1. Works closely with the Hospice of Southwest Iowa Leadership team, the Alegent Health at Home Operation Directors to develop and assess a community outreach plan that defines funding goals, business development strategies and marketing coordination.

2. Leads and articulates the vision of Hospice of Southwest Iowa to the community through public speaking events, interviews, tours, and relationship building with various community resources. Can articulate hospice philosophy and promotes caring compassionate palliative care.

3. Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards gifts for the HSI capital campaign from individuals, corporations, and foundations.

4. In collaboration with donors, their families and/or their advisors prepares and presents gift proposals that are considerate of the donors unique circumstances.

5. Coordinates all aspects of HSI fundraising and maintains and monitors information about donors and accurately reports statistics and data and becomes competent at the use of fundraising software.

Experience
A minimum of five (5) ten (10) years of progressive experience in management, fundraising, marketing or other community relations positions.

Education/Licensure
Required: Bachelors degree required
Preferred: Masters degree

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of major gift fundraising principles and techniques, including planned gift vehicles.
Evidence of excellent persuasive written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated creativity in thought and action
Demonstrated competency in computer applications including word processing, database, desktop publishing, planned giving proposal software, world wide web and e-mail
Ability to work independently, yet cooperatively with other development staff members at Alegent Health and competing foundations
Must demonstrate personal traits of a high-level commitment, motivation and energy; team orientation; professionalism; trust; personal honesty and integrity; and a demonstration of placing others in a place of high value and treating then with dignity and respect.
