Vascular Technologist

Provides quality care for patients in the Non-Invasive Vascular Unit:
Assesses the emotional, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural and physical needs of each patient.
Develops a Plan of Care based upon team assessments, age specific needs and patient/family input.
Implements interventions that are consistent with the individualized plan of care.
Evaluates the effectiveness of the plan of care provided and modifies the plan accordingly.
Identifies the patient/significant other learning needs and initiates/provides teaching appropriate to age.
Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors, and other hospital personnel while assuring confidentiality of patient information.
Responds to the anticipated, individual needs of each patient provides for their safety and comfort.
Practices Universal Precautions to protect the patient and health care worker from exposure to blood borne pathogens.
medications and treatments according to policy/procedure.
Practices and maintains departmental policies/procedures and standards of care.

Experience
One year vascular ultrasound experience preferred.

Education
Bachelors Degree or completion of a 2 year allied health education program.
Registered or registry eligible as a Vascular Technologist by the ARDMS.
Must complete Registered Vascular Technologist credentialing though the ARDMS within 12 months of hire.

BLS or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Red Cross: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute: CPR, PRO, must say Professional Level-with AED, and American Heart Association: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.

Able to provide care to a diverse population of patients.
Able to assess, care and instruct patients of all age groups and developmental levels.
Able to delegate, resolve conflicts and interacts with individuals as well as groups, manage time and stress and think critically.
Skilled in verbal and written communication.
