Speech and Language Pathologist - Skilled Nursing Facility

Administers a formal patient evaluation and treatment based on professional guidelines and protocols.

Provides patient and family education concerning the disease process and remedial home programs with the goal of increasing independence in self-care skills.

Documents formal patient assessment, course of treatment and discharge summary.

Documents patients outcomes.

Provides written reports for physicians, case managers and for reimbursement needs as required.

Provides supervision and direction of department support staff, students and volunteers.

Communicates to all in a positive and professional manner that promotes trust and teamwork.

Participates in department quality improvement functions, annual safety education programs and creates a safe work environment for all patients and staff.

EXPERIENCE

Prefer one year of experience in hospital environment with neurological diagnosis, prefer experience in videofloroscopy procedures

EDUCATIONAL

A minimum of a Master's in Speech Language Pathology is required.

If eligible, incumbent should have a Certificate of Clinical Competence CCC-SLP from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association.

Director may consider recent graduate applicants in need of completing their Clinical FellowshipYear, all new hires/ graduates must complete their CCC-SLP within 18 months of hire.

Must have a current license as a Speech and Language Pathologist in Nebraska or Iowa, License must be held in the state you provide services.

Must possess strong knowledge of speech therapy; strong knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and professional standards; strong communication skills; strong change management skills; must demonstrate personal traits of a high level of motivation; team orientation; professionalism; trust; and place a high value on treating others with dignity and respect.
