Answers telephone and responds as appropriate per clinic guidelines.
Able to triage and transfer calls in a timely manner.
Assists with patient appointment activities: scheduling/rescheduling patient appointments; follow-up on no show appointments, provides patient confirmation calls per clinic specifications.
Greets and directs patients and visitors in a prompt and courteous manner.
Records messages accurately and legibly: messages distributed promptly to the appropriate person and location.
Collects and records co-payment from patients: accurate documentation of transactions, reconciliation of cash drawer receipts and prepares deposits.
Experience Required
One or more years in computer, math, clerical/business with customer service emphasis in an ambulatory health care setting; CPT, ICD-9 coding experience; knowledge of insurance protocols; knowledge of medical terminology.
Preferred:
All Required experience components with three or more years experience in an ambulatory health care setting.
Education Required
High school diploma; GED equivalent with an aptitude in math, Office/clerical skills, computer applications.
Preferred:
Community/Business College Administrative Assistant Certification with medical terminology.
Ability to speak Spanish a plus.
Knowledge/Skill/Abilities

continuous time, resource and task management
access, manipulate and maintain computer data per clinic specifications
correct and accurate basic math applications to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; application of calculator functions
Ability to:
type approximately 40 words per minute
access computer information
speak clearly and concisely
maintain confidentiality of issues and circumstances
react calmly, professionally in emergency situations, and in times of conflict resolution
work closely with the physicians and provider(s) responding appropriately and timely to requests
present a positive business appearance according to clinic dress code
demonstrate a willingness to learn and apply all knowledge and skills
