Position Description
Benefits of Being a Family Teacher

Program Description:

The Family Teaching Couple is a live-in position for legally married couples who role model and teach social/life skills to At-Risk Youth (male or female). In the Family Style Living Program, the husband and wife team live on-campus in free apartment housing that is connected to residence of the 6-8 youth and have responsibility for them 365 days a year 24 hours a day. The Family Teaching Couple work with the youth on their individualized treatment plan in daily interactions in the home, during outings, church, sporting events etc by modeling/teaching appropriate behaviors, morals. The ideal husband/wife team must be mature, responsible, and have a strong interest in working with At-Risk Youth. The Family Teaching Couple will also have an assigned Assistant Family Teacher who will be part of their treatment team to assist when they are working or when they have days off.

Compensation package:

  • Base salary of $25,200 each ($50,400 combined)
  • Monthly budget to purchase food & supplies for family unit
  • Business use of 15 passenger van, gas etc for family unit outings
  • Small apartment within the Boys Town home (furnished by the couple)
  • No-Wait Benefits: medical, dental, vision benefits begin from day one (active enrollment if desired)

    Job qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred
  • Possess a valid drivers license with a good driving record
  • Legally married for a minimum of one year
  • No more than 2 biological or legal adolescent dependents (children)(Due to space limitations and position demands, the home can only consider those couples with no more than two dependent children).
  • Ability to attend church services the same or different than your own faith (monitor/support the youth during designated services)
  • Passing extensive background check to include: validating driver's license and evaluating an individual's driving record, e.g., DUI, reckless driving, moving violations, and at fault accidents. Background checks will also include: criminal background checks, sexual abuse registrary/offenses.
  • Passing drug test and TB test
